The Mothership Logo
Screen printers hire us a lot for logos, apparel graphics, and hats and patches. So when Mothership Merch reached out, they already knew they wanted something custom, bold, and built specifically for their apparel printing business.
They were rebranding under a new name, and needed a visual identity that actually matched the quality of the custom shirts they produce. They also wanted something fun, unique, and rooted in the UFO/mothership theme behind their name.
This is exactly the kind of project we love, a mix of bold illustration, clean typography, and brand strategy that feels purpose-built for the industry.
The Goal: Rebrand With a Modern, Sci-Fi Vibe
The team wanted a logo that would:
Feel custom and unique to their brand
Stand out in the screen printing space
Lean into the UFO theme
Clearly connect to apparel
Work great on shirts, printshop signage, and merch
We needed to figure out a clever way to tie the UFO concept back to the actual service they provide, custom apparel.
Our solution:
A UFO abducting a t-shirt.
Instant connection. Fun. On-brand. Clear.
The logo needed to be bold, versatile, and extremely readable. Since so much of their brand lives on apparel and printed products, we kept the look crisp, vector-clean, and high-contrast.

The Design Approach
1. Exploring Ideas + Sketching
We started with rough thumbnails exploring different compositions of a mothership, beams of light, and apparel references. The circular badge format started making the most sense early on. It’s clean, iconic, and highly usable in print.
2. Building the Concept in Illustrator
Once the idea was set, we moved into vector artwork:
Custom UFO illustration
Cosmic background elements
Geometric badge structure
Customized letterforms for all the type
We also hid a subtle “M” reflection inside the UFO, giving it a unique branded touch no other screen printing shop has.
3. Connecting it to Apparel
To tie everything into what they actually do, we incorporated a t-shirt being beamed up into the UFO. It adds personality, meaning, and clarity without over-explaining anything.
4. Clean Black & White Color Palette
Because screen printers love simplicity and versatility, we landed on a black and white palette. It feels bold, clean, and instantly eye-catching, and it prints beautifully on shirts, hats, and merch.
Why This Logo Works for Screen Printers
Most print shops don’t put much time into their own branding, which is a missed opportunity.
Mothership Merch wanted the opposite.
Their new logo:
Looks custom (not like a stock symbol or clip art)
Feels bold and iconic
Scales perfectly from tiny tag print to big back graphic
Represents custom apparel production
Speaks directly to both their identity and their quality
Has built-in personality through the space theme
Instantly sets them apart from competitors
This is what good branding should do:
Represent the work you do and attract the customers you want.

Where the Branding Is Used
This logo was designed to be highly functional across many formats:
Apparel prints
Shop signage
Stickers
Online store and website
Packaging
Social media
Marketing assets
Uniforms and shop shirts
Screen printers need logos that print well. We kept everything vector-clean and production-friendly from day one, which means the logo holds up in any print method, screen print, embroidery, transfers, vinyl, anything.
What Made This Project Fun
The sci-fi angle gave us a lot of creative freedom. Getting to hide the “M” in the UFO reflection was one of my favorite touches. It’s subtle but meaningful, something you notice on the second look.
Plus, I love working with print shops because I understand how apparel design needs to be built. We design with the print process in mind, which is why so many screen printing companies like working with us.
