Custom Hunting Apparel Graphics for Sixes and Sevens Outdoors

Sixes and Sevens Outdoors is a hunting lifestyle brand we've worked with for years. Alongside their sister brand, Hazard the World, we've helped develop apparel graphics that connect with hunters while staying fun, memorable, and highly wearable.

For this project, the objective was to build graphics that felt unique to the brand, told a story, and reflected the culture surrounding hunting.

The result was a collection of custom illustrated hunting apparel graphics that blend hunting, vintage Americana, outdoor culture, and a little humor into designs people want to wear.

The Brand Direction

One thing we've learned from working with hunting brands is that the strongest apparel often combines multiple meaningful things.

Aside from hunting, hunters also love driving old trucks, and experience hanging out in shops, fueling up before a hunt, swapping stories, and spending time with friends and family. Those experiences become part of the lifestyle.

For the vintage truck design, we pulled inspiration from classic gas stations, old performance shops, vintage signage, and American automotive culture. The centerpiece is a classic pickup loaded with a giant bull elk. The tagline, "Our Heads Are Legendary," works on multiple levels. It's a nod to both elk hunting and motor parts.

The Sasquatch design took a different approach.

Bigfoot is surprisingly popular in outdoor apparel, especially with younger hunters. Rather than simply drawing another Sasquatch graphic, we tied it directly back to the Sixes and Sevens name. The character is throwing the recognizable "67" hand gesture while searching for a giant 6x7 bull elk. The back graphic sets up the story, while the front graphic reveals the hunted elk.

That connection helped turn a simple illustration into something unique to the brand.

Design Details

Building Around Storytelling

Both designs were built around a narrative rather than a single image.

The truck graphic creates a scene. The viewer immediately understands where they are. The gas station, vintage architecture, old truck, road sign, and elk antlers all work together to create a visual story.

Rather than relying on a large logo, the artwork becomes the focal point.

The typography follows the same philosophy. Large distressed lettering frames the composition and helps create strong readability from a distance. The vintage treatment supports the overall Americana aesthetic without feeling forced or overly retro.

So much of this work was custom illustrated by hand specifically for the brand.

The truck, antlers, buildings, Sasquatch character, elk skull, trees, and supporting elements were all drawn from scratch. This allows the artwork to feel cohesive instead of looking like a collection of stock assets assembled together.

Consistent line weight, simplified shapes, and controlled detail help the graphics stay readable when viewed across a room or printed on apparel.

Color Strategy

The graphics used a limited color palette.

The truck design relies heavily on black, cream, and red. The restrained palette reinforces the vintage automotive influence while keeping the graphic easy to wear.

The Sasquatch design introduces greens and earth tones to reinforce the hunting and outdoor connection while still maintaining strong contrast.

In both cases, the colors support the illustration. But we also keep screen printing and printing costs in mind as we are designing.

Wearability Matters

These graphics were intentionally designed with clear hierarchy, strong silhouettes, and simplified shapes. The result is artwork that works equally well on a screen, in a social media post, or printed large on the back of a garment. Wearability is always the end goal.

Why This Project Worked

The strongest hunting apparel doesn't just feature hunting imagery.

It reflects hunting culture and experiences.

The vintage truck design works because it blends elk hunting with recognizable Americana and automotive influences that resonate with many hunters. As well as trigger memories of those who remember hunting back in the day in old Ford.

The Sasquatch concept works because it taps into some fun trends while tying directly back to the Sixes and Sevens brand name.

Both graphics feel authentic to the audience while remaining distinctive from the endless sea of generic shirts on the market.

Most importantly, they feel like something a hunter would actually choose to wear.
