Designing Custom Apparel Graphics for Endex Archery

Endex Archery is a nonprofit organization rooted in archery, bowhunting, and service-oriented communities including veterans, first responders, firefighters, and law enforcement. The goal for this project was to create custom apparel graphics that connected directly to that audience while still feeling wearable, bold, and authentic to the brand.

The project included multiple custom shirt graphics, creative direction, and production-ready vector artwork designed specifically for apparel applications.

One of the biggest priorities was making sure the graphics connected to Endex Archery’s mission instead of just creating generic hunting artwork. The designs needed to feel personal to their audience while still functioning as strong standalone apparel graphics people would genuinely want to wear outside of events or fundraisers.

The Brand Direction

The visual direction pulled heavily from hunting culture, military aesthetics, and bold outdoor apparel design. Since Endex Archery already had a recognizable bison element within their branding, one of the apparel concepts focused on expanding that identity into a more aggressive and graphic-driven design.

The typography throughout the project leaned heavily into military-inspired stencil forms and block lettering. The goal was to create something tough and recognizable without making it feel cliché. The lettering needed enough personality to stand on its own while still supporting the illustrations.

For the operator-inspired design, the concept centered around combining two identities into one character. One half military operator and one half bowhunter. That idea directly tied into the audience Endex Archery serves. A lot of their community overlaps between hunting culture and service backgrounds, so the visual concept instantly created familiarity and relevance.

The overall tone stayed rugged, bold, and highly wearable. Every design was created with real apparel application in mind instead of treating the graphics like posters or standalone illustrations.

Design Details

Bison Skull Graphic

The bison skull graphic became one of the strongest visual anchors in the project because it immediately connected back to the Endex Archery identity.

The illustration uses heavy contrast, thick silhouettes, and distressed texture throughout the composition. The horns create a naturally wide frame that helps support the typography above while also making the design feel balanced on a shirt back.

The distressed textures were intentionally uneven and aggressive to help the design feel worn-in and authentic rather than overly polished. That approach works especially well within hunting and outdoor apparel because it gives the graphic more character once printed on garments.

The arrowhead framing the design adds another subtle connection to archery without overpowering the main illustration.

Operator Archer Graphic

The operator archer concept was designed to visually merge two worlds into a single graphic.

Splitting the character directly down the center created an immediate visual read even from a distance. One side features military-inspired tactical gear while the other side leans more into bowhunting camouflage and archery equipment.

The composition intentionally keeps the silhouette simple and readable despite the amount of detail in the illustration. The surrounding secondary figures help reinforce the concept without distracting from the main focal point.

The curved typography helps frame the composition while the lower slogan creates a strong visual base for the design.

This piece especially relied on balancing detail with wearability. Too much complexity would have hurt readability once printed on fabric, so the illustration uses larger shadow shapes and controlled linework instead of overly fine detail.

Typography

The typography took a more stripped-back direction compared to the illustration.

We relied on shape language, spacing, and custom letterforms to create personality. The letterforms pull influence from military stenciling while still feeling custom and brand-specific.

We integrated arrows in places to help reinforce the archery connection.

Why This Project Worked

This project worked because the designs were built specifically for the audience instead of relying on generic hunting visuals.

The strongest outdoor and hunting apparel graphics usually come from understanding the culture behind the audience. In this case, the visuals needed to connect equally with bowhunters, veterans, first responders, and people who already identified with Endex Archery’s mission.

The graphics also balanced storytelling with wearability. The designs are detailed enough to feel custom and memorable, but still clean enough to work effectively on real garments.

Another important factor was cohesion. Even though each design explored a different concept, the typography, textures, illustration style, and overall tone all felt connected under the same brand umbrella.
