American-Made Innovation Meets Bowhunting Design
Aim For A Passthrough makes some of the most innovative archery equipment in the industry, and the Mule Stabilizer is the perfect example. They reached out after seeing our past bowhunting and hunting design work, and wanted a graphic that captured the utility, toughness, and proudly American-made craftsmanship behind their game-changing product.
I personally run the Mule Stabilizer on my own bow, so I understand why the product resonates with so many bowhunters.
The Goal
Create a graphic built around the Mule Stabilizer that:
Showcases the stabilizer itself
Shows how it connects to archery and bowhunting
Highlights American innovation and American manufacturing
Works as a shape that can be etched on the product itself
Also works for apparel, stickers, hats, packaging, merch, and marketing
Speaks to bowhunters, deer hunters, elk hunters, and the entire archery community
Feels bold, tough, utilitarian, and built-for-purpose
This design needed to communicate the same grit and reliability that the Mule Stabilizer delivers in the field.
The final Mule Stabilizer design showcasing bows, stabilizer, and American-made messaging.
Design Direction
The graphic needed to feel:
Bold
Durable
Purpose-built
Connected to American manufacturing
Directly tied to archery and bowhunting
The stabilizer is the hero, paired with two bows on each side. Instead of duplicating and mirroring one bow, I illustrated each bow individually so the design authentically represents the left and right sides of a compound bow, a subtle detail that an archer would easily notice. I was able to us my actual bow as the foundation for the illustration.
The grit textures, bold lettering, and weathered Americana aesthetic speak to hunters who spend days, weeks, and seasons in the field chasing game.
The finished graphic etched onto the actual Mule Stabilizer product.
Brand Values Brought to Life
Aim For A Passthrough is:
American Made
American Designed
American Manufactured
Run by bowhunters for bowhunters
The design needed to highlight that.
Text elements, layout, and the overall composition reinforce the made-in-the-USA message.
My Design Process
Thumbnail sketching to explore shape, hierarchy, and layout
Refined sketch with the Mule stabilizer as the central element
Illustrated both bows from scratch for anatomical accuracy
Built vector artwork for scalability and usablility
Applied texture to give it a rugged, field-tested feel
Explored colorways that resonate with bowhunters
Final vector format ensured the design could be laser-etched onto the stabilizer itself

Why This Project Matters
I love archery and bowhunting. I’m part of the same audience this design is meant for. And I use the Mule Stabilizer on my own bow every single day.
That connection helped this artwork come together naturally. Knowing the industry, the gear, and how its used helps so much when designing something that needs to resonate with that specific audience.
Favorite Part
Illustrating the bows and stabilizer using my actual bow as the reference. I had fun photographing my bow at full draw and in different directions. It made for the perfect reference. Being able to authentically represent real archery gear always makes a design stronger.
Seeing the finished design etched onto the stabilizers, and then seeing bowhunters use it all over the world was so cool to experience.
